Which Kinesiology Degree Fits Your Career Goal?
Physical Therapy
You'll need a Doctor of Physical Therapy after your bachelor's. A kinesiology major covers most DPT prerequisites, and 167 programs in our data say they have a pre-PT path. Start with our best kinesiology programs for pre-physical therapy.
Strength and Conditioning
Most strength coaches hold the CSCS, which needs a bachelor's degree. A master's helps for college jobs. 186 programs mention strength and conditioning, and our strength and conditioning master's rankings compare the graduate route.
Athletic Training
Athletic training is now a master's-level credential: the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education accredits professional programs at the graduate level. A kinesiology bachelor's is the usual first step, and 132 programs point toward athletic training.
Coaching or Teaching PE
Coaching jobs rarely require a specific degree, but teaching PE in a public school needs a teaching license from your state. 114 programs in our data mention coaching or PE teacher preparation. Check that a program leads to licensure where you plan to teach.
