Privacy Policy

Kinesiology Degree Programs is a static reference site. It publishes rankings and comparisons of US kinesiology and exercise science degree programs, built from federal data. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing here asks who you are. The short version of this policy: we measure traffic with Google Analytics, and that is the only thing we collect.
What this site does not do
There are no user accounts, no contact forms, no newsletter, and no comment threads. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal detail, so we do not hold any of it.
Typefaces are served from this domain and so is every image, so no social network, font service, or content delivery network receives a request from your browser as a result of your visiting a page here. There is no Meta pixel and no session-recording tool on any page. Three things do reach outside this domain: Google Analytics, our own visit counter, and the sponsored listings carried on most pages. Each is described below.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages people actually
read. Your browser fetches a script from googletagmanager.com, and Google
receives the page you viewed, the page that referred you, your device type, screen size
and language, and your IP address, which Google says it uses to derive an approximate
location and does not store. What reaches us is totals and trends in a dashboard: how
many people read a ranking, which state pages get used, what people searched before
arriving. Not who you are.
It sets two first-party cookies, _ga and _ga_DZT12LJZBX, which
tell one browser from another so a second visit is not counted as a new person. They
hold a randomly generated number, never a name or an email address, and what Google does
with what it receives is governed by
Google’s
privacy policy rather than this one.
You can refuse all of it, and nothing here breaks if you do: block or clear cookies for this site, use any tracker-blocking extension, or install Google’s opt-out browser add-on. Every page works identically with analytics blocked, because no feature on this site depends on it. Note that Google Analytics does not act on the browser “Do Not Track” header, so blocking is the thing that works.
Separately, each page loads a small script from
dependable-seahorse-104.convex.site, which is our own hosting rather than
an outside analytics company. It records that a page was visited so we can see which
pages get read without depending on Google for the answer. It goes to us, it is not
shared or sold, and blocking it has no effect on anything you can see or do here.
Cookies and local storage
We set two cookies, both for analytics, described above. Nothing we set logs you in, remembers a preference, or follows you to another site. EsyOh may set its own on pages that carry its listings — see advertising and paid links.
It stores exactly one value in your browser’s local storage, under the key
theme, and only if you use the light/dark toggle in the header. It records
site-light or site-dark so the site does not flash the wrong
theme on your next visit. It is never transmitted anywhere, it identifies nothing about
you, and clearing your browser storage removes it with no effect other than the theme
reverting to your system preference.
Server logs
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like every web host, Cloudflare processes the technical details a request necessarily carries — IP address, user agent, the URL asked for, and the time — in order to serve the page and to protect the site from abuse and denial-of-service traffic. We do not use that data to build profiles, we do not join it to anything else, and we do not sell it. Cloudflare’s handling of it is governed by their privacy policy.
Links to other sites
Program pages link out to the school’s own page for that program, and figures on this site are cited to their sources: IPEDS, the BLS Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics, O*NET, and the certifying bodies named on the certification pages. Following any of those links takes you to an organization with its own privacy practices, which this policy does not cover.
Advertising and paid links
Some outbound links here are paid: if you follow one and go on to apply or buy something, we may be paid a commission. It costs you nothing extra, the destination is the same page either way, and it does not move a program up a table — ranking order is computed from federal data by the method described here. Paid placements are labeled where they appear.
A paid link needs nothing from your browser but the click. Sponsored listings are
different, and this site carries them: most pages here show a block of paid school
listings, marked “AD”, served by
EsyOh.
Loading that block is a request to esyoh.com, so EsyOh sees your IP address
and user agent, may set its own cookies, and is governed by its own privacy policy rather
than this one. If you click a listing or submit anything on the school’s side, that
is between you, EsyOh and the school.
Those listings are advertising. They are not ranked, they are not scored, and no school in them gained or lost a position anywhere on this site by being there. The blocks sit below our own ranked list, under their own heading, for that reason.
Children
This site is aimed at prospective and current college students and the people advising them. It is not directed at children under 13, and there is no form, account or newsletter here through which anyone of any age could hand us a personal detail. The analytics described above count page views; they are not built to identify a person, and we make no attempt to identify one.
Your rights
Rules such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, or delete personal data an operator holds about you. You have given us none directly — there is no form here to give it through — so we hold no name, address or email of yours to return or erase. The analytics data is the exception worth naming: it sits in Google’s systems keyed to a random number rather than to you, we see it only as aggregate reports, and clearing the cookies detaches this browser from it. If you want to know what a visit looks like from our side, write to help@hakia.com and we will show you.
We do not sell personal information, and we have never done so. Google receives what the analytics section describes, as the service that measures traffic for us.
Corrections to published data
This is not a privacy matter, but it is the most common reason people write to us. If a figure about your institution or program is wrong on this site, tell us which page and which figure at help@hakia.com. Every number here traces to a public federal filing, so a correction usually means either the filing changed or we read it wrong; we will say which, and fix it.
Changes to this policy
The date at the top of this page is the last time it was substantively changed. If the site starts collecting something it does not collect today, this page changes in the same release, not afterwards.
